Cresset Family Office welcomes three more industry leaders to its growing list of talent
Dan Terlep, Tony McEahern and Joel Alberts join Cresset to help build a next generation multi-family-office experience
CHICAGO – November 27, 2018 — Cresset Family Office has added three more industry leaders to its ranks to further build upon Cresset’s vision to reinvent the way people experience wealth. Dan Terlep, CPA, joins as Senior Managing Director of Financial and Tax Strategy; Tony McEahern, CFP, CTFA, JD, LLM, joins as Senior Managing Director, Wealth Planning; and Joel Alberts, JD, joins as Client Advisor, Midwest Region. Cresset Capital Management, founded by private equity entrepreneurs Eric Becker and Avy Stein, announced plans to launch Cresset Family Office earlier this year to build upon the independent wealth management platform provided by Cresset Wealth Advisors.
McEahern will lead wealth strategy for Cresset Family Office and is a multidisciplinary leader who is skilled at delivering comprehensive, fully integrated, multi-generational wealth management experiences. Most recently he was Head of Wealth Planning for Wells Fargo’s Wealth Management and Abbot Downing divisions, where he managed wealth planning for all client segments. Prior to that he was an attorney in the Denver area.
In addition to being a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and a Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA), McEahern has been admitted to the Colorado and District of Columbia Bar Associations and is a Registered Investment Advisor Representative. He earned his Masters of Law and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Denver College of Law; and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science, as well as Criminal Justice and Criminology, from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
Terlep joins Cresset Family Office as Senior Managing Director of Financial and Tax Strategy. He is an experienced accounting and financial professional with a focus on tax planning, estate planning and operational planning for ultra-high-net-worth family offices, family-owned enterprises, private equity and real estate businesses. Previously, he held the role of Senior Manager for RSM, where he led family office restructuring efforts to maximize family objectives, governance and tax considerations.
Terlep is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and earned a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University.
In his new role with Cresset Family Office, Alberts will be working as a Client Advisor in the Midwest market headquartered in Minneapolis. He most recently was a Director with Abbot Downing of Wells Fargo. In addition to managing client relationships, he is experienced in working with closely-held business owners and addressing wealth transfer planning objectives.
He earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Iowa College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Central University of Iowa.
