Managing Director - Strategic Partnerships
Matt Somma is a Partner and founding team member at Cresset Capital Management. Based in New York City, he is responsible for client acquisition and cultivating strategic partnerships. Matt comes to Cresset Wealth Advisors with 12 years of experience in financial services. Most recently, Matt was a Vice President at J.P. Morgan, where he was responsible for covering a diverse range of clients, including high-net worth families, hedge fund and private equity principals, corporate executives, family-owned businesses, institutions and family offices.
He initially joined J.P. Morgan in 2012 as a strategist in the Global Investment Opportunities (GIO) group where he focused on portfolio management across multiple asset classes and provided idea generation for global institutions and ultra-high net worth individuals in New York, London, Geneva, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Previously, Matt was a Senior Associate at Berenson & Company, a boutique merchant bank, and covered middle-market private equity and hedge funds in their Leveraged Finance Group. Before Berenson & Company, he worked at MSD Capital — Michael Dell’s family office — within the Energy, Technology and Convertible Bonds Group managing a $2.2 billion portfolio evaluating both public and private investments.
Matt started his career as an analyst at CIT Group in their Mergers & Acquisitions division in New York City. Matt graduated from the University of Notre Dame and maintains FINRA Series 7, 63, 65 and 79 licenses. Originally from Hampton Bays, NY, Matt is a committee member of the non-profit organization, Stop Soldier Suicide.
