Michael Cole is a wealth management industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience building successful family offices. Michael Cole serves as Chief Executive Officer of Cresset, where he is building a deeply holistic approach to wealth management.
Cole prides himself on hiring great people and empowering them to execute a shared vision. His management style is to inspire and passionately deliver stellar client service. He finds it exceptionally rewarding to work in an environment with successful people who have the resources and abilities to make a lasting impact on the world.
When Cole was only 35, Merrill Lynch named him president of Merrill Lynch Trust after working at the firm for just two years. He then went on to additional success at Wells Fargo, where he held senior wealth
management positions and was selected to serve as national leader of the Family Wealth Group and the Wealth Planning Center, which is now called Abbot Downing. Most recently, before joining Cresset, he
served as president of Ascent Private Capital Management of U.S. Bank, an award-winning multi-family office (MFO) that he developed into one of the fastest growing MFOs in the industry.
Cole authored the book “More Than Money: A Guide to Sustaining Wealth and Preserving the Family,” which was published by Wiley Press and Bloomberg Publishing. Since its release, the book has
consistently been in the top 100 of Amazon’s best-selling books in wealth management and financial services.
Cole earned a bachelor’s degree from Emory University in Atlanta. He is a current member of Institutional Investor’s RIA Institute Advisory Board.
