Crain’s Chicago’s 2018 Executive Guide on Wealth Management features an interview with Cresset Wealth Advisors’ CEO Doug Regan in the article “How to build a lasting legacy”. Doug elaborates on his view that investors should engage in “strategic philanthropy”: in other words, establish a legacy that inspires the same passion and commitment in the next generation as that which went into creating that wealth in the first place. The money itself is not the legacy, in Regan’s view; the true legacy is the values instilled by setting a good example through the strategic deployment of that money to important causes and uses.
