Matt is responsible for leading Cresset’s CFO services group, which is dedicated to working with Cresset’s family office clients. Serving as an outsourced CFO, Matt and his team look across a client’s entire balance sheet to provide quarterly personal financial statement review, reporting and recommendations, bill-pay solutions, cash flow modeling & management, capital call tracking and liquidity analysis. Matt brings more than 16 years of experience advising ultra-high-net-worth families on public and private investments, tax and estate planning strategies, and cashflow management.
Most recently, Matt built and managed a family office with more than $1 billion in assets. His role included serving as trustee for the family, which initiates, capitalizes, and operates several companies in the biotechnology sector. Matt analyzed, presented and implemented solutions which helped the family save significant dollars on estate, federal and state income taxes. He also oversaw the investment strategy, selection of third-party advisors, risk management, liquidity needs, and private aviation for the family. Previously, Matt was a Director of a leading independent investment advisory firm, providing clients with investment management, financial planning, and client education services.
Matt is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder. He holds a Bachelor of Science in personal finance from the CFP Board-Certified Financial Planning Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a member of the CFA Society of Chicago.
Matt is also very involved in the Jewish community. He is a member of JUF’s Professional Advisory Committee and the Legacies & Endowments Committee. Additionally, he serves as a board member for North Suburban Synagogue Beth El and is a member of the synagogue’s Endowment Corporation and a member of the Investment Committee.
Matt lives in Highland Park, Illinois, with his wife, Sarah, and their three daughters.
