About

Michael is an Executive Managing Director in Cresset’s Private Wealth practice in the Houston office, advising families across Texas, the Southwest and throughout the United States. He joined Cresset in November 2025 with nearly 30 years of experience guiding ultra-high-net-worth families through the complexities of multigenerational wealth.

Michael and his team partner with families, business owners and nonprofit organizations on integrated strategies that align investment oversight with tax and estate planning, philanthropic goals, trust coordination and long-term family governance. Clients rely on his ability to coordinate the many dimensions of their wealth including investments, planning, philanthropy and governance and to guide them confidently through complexities such as liquidity events, succession planning and multigenerational decision-making.

Before joining Cresset, Michael spent 27 years with Bernstein Private Wealth Management, where he helped build the firm’s Texas presence and launched and led the Houston office, advising many of the firm’s largest client families. Earlier in his career, he co-founded a hedge fund and worked as a professional floor trader in the Eurodollar pit at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Michael serves on advisory boards for Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center, the Houston Methodist Department of Surgery, and Episcopal High School. He is also a board member of the Menninger Clinic Foundation. A native of San Angelo, Texas, he earned his BBA from the University of Texas at Austin and lives in Houston with his wife, Stacy. They have three wonderful children and a daughter-in-law. In his free time, Michael is an avid runner and has completed 12 marathons.
