Cresset announced today the addition of another industry veteran to its San Francisco office with the hiring of Mark Guinney, CFA, as Managing Director of Investment Strategies for the California Region.
With more than 25 years of investment management experience, Guinney brings deep expertise in working with ultra-high-net-worth families and family offices, with a focus on impact investing related to environmental sustainability and financial wellness. Prior to joining Cresset, Guinney most recently served as the Co-Head of the Investment Group at Tiedemann Advisors, where he had responsibility for market strategy, manager selection, risk management and asset allocation for both traditional and impact investments. He was also a member of the firm’s internal Investment Committee. Prior to that role Guinney was the Chief Investment Officer at the Presidio Group, which later became Tiedemann Advisors.
“I could not be more excited to be joining a firm like Cresset with its vision to fundamentally reinvent how wealth management services are offered,” Guinney said. “The team in California is extraordinary, as is the entire family of Cresset across its seven offices. Cresset is offering something very special to its clients, and I look forward to adding my expertise.”
Guinney is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and events and is the author of multiple papers on topics related to investing and wealth management. In 2018, he co-authored the CFA level III required reading on “Asset Allocation to Alternative Strategies”. He is a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of San Francisco. Guinney earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Pomona College, and an MBA in finance from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
Born and raised in California, Guinney lives in Mill Valley just north of San Francisco with his family.
“Mark is such a fantastic addition to the Cresset team and simply a stellar and deeply seasoned investment professional,” said Martim de Arantes Oliveira, Regional Managing Director, Northern California for Cresset.
